About Revel the Miles
Hi! We’re Chandler and Jamie, the couple behind Revel the Miles.
We were born and raised in Oregon, and we’re full-time employees, business owners, chronic trip planners, and the people our friends and family have always come to when they need ideas for where to go next.
Revel the Miles is our way of sharing those recommendations with more than just the people in our group chat, while showing that incredible travel doesn’t have to mean quitting your job, having unlimited PTO, or taking a month-long bucket-list trip.
Sometimes it’s a two-week trip through Europe. Sometimes it’s an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. And a lot of the time, it’s figuring out just how much of Oregon we can explore with a weekend and a few days off work.
Our Story
Our story technically started all the way back in middle school, although calling what we did “dating” might be generous. It was mostly texting, middle-school crushes, and whatever counted as a relationship at that age.
Jamie had a thing for Chandler for years and still remembers random things about her from middle school and high school that Chandler has absolutely no memory of. Chandler secretly had a crush on him too, but somehow we stayed friends instead.
We remained friends through middle school and high school, even ending up in the same homecoming group one year… with different dates.
After high school, we eventually lost touch. Every once in a while we’d run into each other at bars around Salem, but the timing was never right. One of us always seemed to be in a relationship.
Then Chandler went to Mexico.
She posted an Instagram Story from her trip, and Jamie finally slid into her DMs to ask whether she was there “for work or for fun.”
For work. In Mexico. Apparently Jamie thought there was a very real possibility Chandler had casually gone to Mexico on a business trip.
Somehow, it worked.
We started talking again, finally started dating for real, and during our first year together we set a goal to visit all Seven Wonders of Oregon.
We checked off every one.
Travel kept becoming part of our story from there. Jamie eventually proposed during a trip to Leavenworth, Washington, and just six months later, we got married in Mexico, the same place that had accidentally brought us back into each other’s lives in the first place.
We got married in March 2022, and somehow the years since have included even more trips, more animals, more businesses, and eventually, Revel the Miles.
That was really just the beginning.
Travel Has Always Been Part of Us
Travel became a huge part of our relationship long before Revel the Miles existed.
For years, Mexico was one of the places we returned to again and again, usually at least twice a year. We love exploring, but we also have a very real appreciation for an all-inclusive resort, a pool, and absolutely nowhere we need to be.
For our 30th birthdays, we saved up a LOT of PTO, worked our butts off beforehand, and spent more than two weeks traveling through Europe. Jamie is exactly 13 days older than Chandler, which meant he turned 30 in Amsterdam and Chandler turned 30 in Rome.
We don’t really have one type of travel, and we like it that way.
We’ll sleep in a tent one trip and check into a hotel the next. We love Airbnbs. We love road trips. We love big international trips. And all-inclusive resorts? Chef’s kiss.
How we travel depends entirely on the trip.
Our big road trips and international trips tend to be packed because we want to see as much as we can. Mexico is usually much slower. And when we only have a weekend, we’re more intentional about where we go instead of trying to cram ten different places into two days.
Why We Started Revel the Miles
Before Revel the Miles was ever an Instagram account or a website, our friends and family were constantly asking us for recommendations.
Where should we go for the weekend? Where should we stay? What should we do while we’re there? Is this place actually worth visiting?
Eventually, we realized we were already doing a lot of the work that goes into creating travel content. We were finding the places, planning the itineraries, taking the photos, and coming home with a list of things we’d recommend.
We just weren’t sharing any of it beyond our own circle.
We’re also DINKWADs: Dual Income, No Kids, With A Dog… although in our case, make that two dogs and two cats.
Having two incomes and no kids gives us more flexibility to travel, and we know that. But we also noticed that a lot of the travel content we saw online focused on huge bucket-list vacations, full-time travel, or trips that require more money and PTO than most people realistically have.
That’s not our life either.
We both work full-time. We both own businesses. We have four animals at home. We have schedules, responsibilities, budgets, and a finite number of PTO days.
So in February 2026, we finally started Revel the Miles.
We wanted to create the kind of travel account we’d want to follow: one that makes you want to go somewhere, but also helps you figure out how you could actually make the trip happen.
Travel for People Who Can’t Take a Month Off
We love a huge bucket-list trip as much as anyone, but most of the time, we’re figuring out what we can realistically fit into weekends, days off, and the PTO we actually have.
That’s what we mean when we talk about realistic, PTO-friendly travel.
We want to show you the beautiful part of a destination, but we also want to tell you how long we’d actually stay, what we’d do differently, what surprised us, what wasn’t worth the time, what we’d absolutely do again, and all the things we wish we’d known before we got there.
Because seeing somewhere beautiful on Instagram is one thing.
Figuring out how to actually go there is another.
The Planner and the Travel Prince
There is one part of our travel style that stays extremely consistent.
Chandler is Type A and would happily have every second of every trip planned before leaving home.
Jamie is the travel prince.
When we’re flying somewhere, there is a very real possibility Jamie doesn’t know what airline we’re taking, exactly where we’re staying, or what we’re doing when we get there. Chandler has the itinerary. Jamie carries all the bags.
It works.
Jamie is also the one willing to stay awake half the night photographing the stars. He’s gotten really into astrophotography, which has led to some incredible photos and some very late nights.
Chandler likes to go to bed early.
Sunrise isn’t much better.
Whenever an alarm goes off before the sun comes up, we’re both pretty much guaranteed to ask each other, “Is this even worth it?”
It always is.
Unfortunately.
Oregon Is Home
We were both born and raised in South Salem, Oregon, so exploring this state isn’t something that started when we created a travel account.
Oregon is home.
During our first year of dating, we made it to all Seven Wonders of Oregon, and somehow, years later, we’re still finding places in our own state that make us wonder how we’d never heard of them before.
That’s a huge part of what Revel the Miles is about right now.
We want to find the hidden gems, the weird roadside stops, the incredible places to stay, the campgrounds worth driving hours for, the small towns, the scenic roads, and the places that make you say, “Wait… this is in Oregon?”
For now, Oregon is our focus.
But it’s definitely not the end goal.
Beyond Oregon
We eventually want Revel the Miles to take us much farther.
We miss our Mexico trips. We want to get back to international travel. There are a whole lot of places outside Oregon that we haven’t even begun to explore together yet.
Jamie also has dual citizenship with Australia through his dad, so there’s another part of his family’s story on the other side of the world that we’d love to explore more someday.
We’re not in a rush to turn Revel the Miles into an account that goes everywhere.
We’d rather grow slowly, explore Oregon well, and expand naturally as our travels take us farther from home.
And wherever we go, we want the trips we share to remain realistic enough that someone following along could look at one and think:
We could actually do that.
Behind Revel the Miles
Revel the Miles is very much a two-person operation, but we’ve naturally fallen into completely different roles.
Jamie is behind most of the videos you see. He handles the filming, creates and edits our Reels, and takes a lot of our photography. He’s also the funnier one, which will probably become apparent pretty quickly.
Chandler handles most of what happens behind the scenes: planning trips, building the website, creating carousels, pitching and managing partnerships with destinations and brands, and taking some of the photos along the way.
We both answer comments, interact with the people following our adventures, read your recommendations, and add way too many new places to our list because someone told us, “You HAVE to go here.”
Revel the Miles may look like a travel account from the outside, but behind every Reel and guide are two people doing all of this around already very full lives.
Jamie is a firefighter/paramedic and owns a real estate media company. Chandler works as an auditor and owns a teeth whitening business.
Meet the Rest of the Crew
We aren’t exactly a two-person household.
There’s also Nala, Oakley, Zazu, and Simba.
Nala and Oakley are our two golden retrievers and the ones you’re most likely to see joining us on adventures. If a trip works with dogs, we love bringing them, which also means you’ll find dog-friendly information throughout Revel the Miles when it’s relevant.
Zazu and Simba are our two cats.
They have shown considerably less enthusiasm about becoming travel influencers and generally prefer to stay home.
Where We’re Going
Revel the Miles is still just getting started.
Right now, we’re focused on showing you how much there is to experience in Oregon, especially when you only have a weekend or a few precious PTO days to work with.
But we’d love for this to eventually become our full-time job and give us the opportunity to travel farther, create better resources, and help more people actually take the trips they’ve been saving for “someday.”
Even if Revel the Miles eventually gives us the opportunity to travel more, we don’t want to lose the reason we started it in the first place.
The trips we share should still be trips you could actually take.
